Mumbai court files FIR against Deepika, KJo, criminal conspiracy against AIB

MUMBAI: A Mumbai court has also ordered a criminal conspiracy case against comedy group AIB under section 220-B, and Bollywood personalities for the controversial AIB roast. Bollywood heartthrob Deepika Padukone and film maker Karan Johan, along with 14 others, have been pulled up by a Mumbai court which has ordered that a FIR be registered against them over the AIB Roast matter.

The event, staged in Mumbai in December, was attended by 4,000 people and the audience included Johar’s mother, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone among others.


AIB Roast, a stand-up comedy show, had created a major controversy after a video of their show went viral on YouTube.

The comic group, All India Bakchod, has been under fire ever since the AIB Knockout event premiered on YouTube on January 28.

A huge controversy had erupted over AIB Roast that saw film stars and others being ‘roasted’ and made fun of in front of a huge audience. Many people, including cultural and religious organisations, objected to they said promoted vulgarity and was ‘cheap’ and ‘sexist’.
